Project Description
The Broomfield hospital project is currently the largest hospital project won by Bouygues UK (BYUK). It is intended to create a single district general hospital for Essex consolidating the Broomfield Hospital and St. John’s Hospital, which is located in the middle of Chelmsford, all on to the same location the construction of 43,000 square metres of new state-of-the-art accommodation.
Bouygues, together with its partners Ecovert FM (EFM) and HSBC, “The Consortium”; has been involved with the project since 2003 and was announced as the successful tenderer (the Preferred Bidder) in March 2004.
Since this success, the Consortium achieved Financial Close at the end of 2007, launching construction works.
The project comprises a large highly serviced new build facility with associated car parking provisions, infrastructure and landscaping, all integrated into the existing estate with an exceptional atrium space and architecturally significant entrance physically fusing the old with the new.
